The San Antonio Botanical Garden is one of my favorite places to photograph a wedding in the city. With its vine-covered arbor, seasonal blooms, sprawling oaks and a modern glass-walled event hall, it feels romantic and timeless in every season, and I've loved photographing weddings and engagement sessions here.
Casie and Trey's May wedding was soft and classic, with white roses and lots of greenery, bridesmaids in rose gold sequins and Trey in a black tux. They said "I do" beneath the Wisteria Arbor on Greehey Lawn, framed by the garden's live oaks and greenery, then celebrated with a champagne tower and a dance floor that stayed full all night. A month earlier, Casie's bridal session gave us the garden all to ourselves.

Frankie and Eric's April wedding landed right as the garden's wisteria burst into bloom. Bright pink, yellow and coral florals set a joyful tone, their first look among the spring flower beds brought the sweetest smiles, and they said "I do" beneath the purple wisteria arbor before a reception of peach linens, amber goblets and nonstop dancing.

Radha and JC's October engagement session wandered through the garden's colorful flower beds, stone steps and vine-covered archways, with plenty of laughter and sweet, cozy moments along the way. The garden is one of my favorite San Antonio spots for engagement photos, with a new backdrop around every corner.
Location: San Antonio Botanical Garden
The San Antonio Botanical Garden is a lush, 38-acre oasis just north of downtown San Antonio, full of seasonal blooms, shaded paths and beautiful spaces for your ceremony and celebration. It's a dream for couples who love a romantic, timeless garden wedding.
The arbor
The long, vine-covered arbor is one of my favorite spots in the garden, with soft, dappled shade for portraits, and in early spring it drips with purple wisteria.
The flower beds + paths
Colorful seasonal flower beds, brick paths and stone steps make a fresh backdrop around every corner, perfect for a first look, wedding party photos or an engagement session.
The oaks + lawn
The garden's sprawling oaks and open lawn are made for an outdoor ceremony, and their shade keeps your portraits soft and glowing even on a sunny Texas day.
Your reception
The garden's modern event hall, with its warm wood ceiling and walls of glass looking out on the greenery, is a beautiful backdrop for your details, then glows once the dancing starts. I'll plan your photo timeline around the best light for your date.
Bridals + engagements
The garden is just as lovely for bridals and engagement photos, like Casie's bridal session and Radha and JC's engagement session.
Planning a Botanical Garden wedding?
Where are the best photo spots at the San Antonio Botanical Garden?
The vine-covered arbor, the seasonal flower beds and brick paths, the oaks and lawn, and the glass-walled event hall for your reception details.
Can we have our ceremony and reception at the garden?
Yes. Casie and Trey and Frankie and Eric both said "I do" outdoors in the garden and celebrated in its event hall, with portraits in between, all in one place.
When is the wisteria in bloom?
Usually for a short window in early spring, like at Frankie and Eric's early April wedding. The garden is beautiful year-round, though, with something blooming in every season.
Can we do our bridals or engagement photos at the garden?
Yes! It's one of my favorite spots in San Antonio for both, like Casie's bridals and Radha and JC's engagement session. The garden has its own photography guidelines and fees, so check with them when you book.
What if it rains, or it's a hot Texas day?
The shaded arbor and oaks keep portraits soft and comfortable, and the indoor event hall gives you a beautiful backup if the weather has other plans.
Is travel included?
Yes. I'm based in San Antonio, so the Botanical Garden is right in my backyard, and travel within 120 miles is included in every collection.
I'd love to hear about your plans
